Quantity Surveyor

Operational Responsibilities
• Liaise with clients, engineers, and operational teams to understand commercial and contractual requirements.
• Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, material take-offs, and tender documentation.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, validate quantities, and evaluate commercial impact.
• Assist Operations in planning by providing cost and quantity insights.
• Coordinate with Procurement to ensure timely sourcing of materials and subcontractor services.
• Attend site meetings to review progress, variations, and contractual issues.

Administrative Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate commercial files, tender records, and documentation.
• File and track all variations, cost submissions, client approvals, and contractual correspondence.
• Support contract close-out processes including final accounts and archiving.
• Prepare handover commercial documentation where required.

Quality Responsibilities
• Ensure cost estimates and BOQs meet required standards and are consistent with project specifications.
• Review site information before integrating into commercial assessments.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in quantity surveying, tendering, and commercial processes.

HSE Responsibilities
• Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies during site visits.
• Report any HSE-related issues that may influence project costs or schedules.

Asset Responsibilities
• Safeguard company assets such as laptops, measurement tools, and commercial software.
• Maintain updated licences and ensure responsible handling of tools and documents.

Financial Responsibilities
• Prepare accurate cost estimations, budgets, and commercial evaluations.
• Compile tender pricing, subcontractor comparisons, and cost analyses.
• Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle and highlight deviations.
• Prepare interim valuations, variation submissions, and final accounts.
• Support ROI assessments and commercial forecasting.
• Collaborate with Finance on cost documentation required for audits.

Reporting Responsibilities
• Provide regular commercial and progress reports to the Draughting & QS Manager and Operations.
• Maintain accurate data on tender outcomes, valuations, and variations.
• Contribute to commercial reports required for strategic planning or audits.

• Demonstrate professionalism and integrity in all commercial dealings.
• Promote strong communication across technical, operational, and finance teams.
• Maintain a proactive and solution-focused approach.

Training Responsibilities
• Attend training and stay updated on QS practices, measurement standards, and cost-control methods.
• Share knowledge with colleagues and support junior staff development.
• Stay informed about updates to industry standards and tendering practices.

Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in QS within the construction or MEP industry.
• Strong working knowledge of BOQ preparation, tendering, cost control, and commercial reporting.
• Valid driving licence preferred.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office; experience with cost management software is an asset.
